Owner's Notes
When Monarch had gas power (twin 440 Chryslers) She got less that ¾ MPG at cruising speed. The efficiencies of changing to diesel were a result of changing the gearing and propeller pitch. Owner spent many, many hours researching and doing calculations in order to come up with the correct gear box ratio and propeller pitch when they did the diesel conversion. The end results worked out pretty well. Monarch gained almost trawler economy at trawler speed, yet is capable of relatively good economy at plaining hull speeds.
Because the Cummins diesels were a one-time custom installation, owner had to have a technician from Cummins certify the installation and operation of them. This was required in order to have them covered by the new engine warranty. Monarch passed with flying colors.
Dinghy pictured in photos is excluded from sale.
